Identity and Access Management for 28, 000 identities

Background

Region Västerbotten's mission is to offer and develop health, care, and regional development across a wide geographical area from the Västerbotten coastal area by the Gulf of Bothnia all the way to the mountains at the Norwegian border. The region plays a central role in promoting health and well-being for the residents in the area. With an extensive network of 28,000 employees and complex processes for access cards, scheduling, and access management, the region faced the challenge of streamlining these processes. Gunilla Grabbe, section leader at ID-Photo at Region Västerbotten, pointed out: "Before we implemented Serix IAM, our identity and access management was a manual and fragmented process. We had several different systems handling different parts of our needs, leading to increased workload and risk of errors."

Solution

Seriline helped the region introduce Serix IAM, an overarching system that integrated all essential aspects of identity and access management for the region. A key part of the solution was the introduction of a linked photo booth for easy and quick issuance of access cards to the region's employees. Additionally, integrations with scheduling tools were implemented for smooth management of work shifts and access management to the pneumatic tube system at the hospital in Umeå.

Another innovative feature that Serix IAM enabled was the connection to clothing dispensers for the retrieval of work clothes for the staff. By consolidating all these functions under a single platform, the manual workload was significantly reduced, and the risk of errors minimized.

Results

The implementation of Serix IAM has transformed Region Västerbotten's management of identities and accesses. By centralizing and automating the processes, the region has experienced significant efficiency gains and reduced the risk of errors.
